Holiday Drama

For many the holidays are full of drama, but not all drama is bad. Yes, family squabbles, office parties with people you don’t like, and stressed out wallets all make the naughty list. However there is one type of drama that will definitely make the nice list during the holidays, and that is dramatic dressing.

There is no better time to pull out all the stops and delve deep into your wardrobe to find those hidden treasures that, for practical reasons, usually don’t see the light of day most of the year. For me it was this blouse by Calvin Klein. It incorporates two big trends this season: animal print and sequins. The blouse can be worn dressed down with jeans, but for a more dramatic look, I like to pair it with black tapered dress pants or a skirt. I prefer the later, especially for this time of year - add some black pumps, and some black earrings and I’m ready to go! There is so much sparkle on it that you can’t help but light up the room when wearing it. It definitely stands on its own!

It’s definitely easy to overdo it when wearing a piece that has so much flash and drama to it. A rule to follow is always pick one statement piece, and in this case this shirt is it. Don’t wear a sparkly top with sequinned shoes or bottoms. Don’t wear sparkly shoes with anything that has beading or shine on top. Make your one dramatic piece the focal point to keep it elegant and balanced.

Now that’s the type of holiday drama we can all enjoy being a part of.
