A Simple Solution for Winter Lips

Ahh, winter...  Those cold, dark days wreak havoc on our psyche and our skin.  Love it or hate it, the one thing that we can count on is that winter brings us dry skin and lips, which no one likes.  Coupled with the fact that as we get older, our skin loses moisture, the combination can be brutal.  Cracking  and wrinkled  lips are not only unsightly (let's face it wrinkles = old) and uncomfortable, but applying and keeping lip colour in its place can become challenging.  Hence, finding a product that will keep your lips as smooth as possible is key, and let's face it, unkempt lips are not exactly what you want this time of year, especially when standing under the mistletoe.

I have tried a variety of lip balms.  More often than not, I found them feeling waxy and lasting no longer than an hour or so, leaving my lips dry all over again.  The one lip balm I found that actually lasts and helps keep my lips moist is basic, old-school Blistex.  I especially love the mint.  Other popular brands just didn't seem to hold up.  I even tried the other "fancier" Blistex balms, in an attempt to smell like the tropics, but oddly enough they often felt heavy and waxy and their effects didn't last.  Tried and true I would always come back to this one, and now I can't live without it.  The original comes close, but I like the mint scent and it feels refreshing on.  It's not fancy or pretentious, and you can find it just about everywhere, best of all it takes care of business. Though it doesn't get rid of wrinkles, it keeps your lips well-hydrated.  Proper hydration allows lip colour to go on smoothly and lessen the appearance of those tiny lines where colour settles in.

If you have any other great lip products that work well for relieving your wrinkled, dry lips, please share it with us. For me, this one is it!
