Bye-Bye Dark Circles, Hello Bright Eyes

Maybelline Age Rewind in Neutralizer

Maybelline Age Rewind in Neutralizer

Wouldn't it be great if instead of getting older, we would get younger? Ah too bad that is only an "if."  Lack of sleep, stress and busy everyday life gives us bags under our eyes, and the years give us those fine little wrinkles that settle into those bags.  The two are inseparable and hiding them is no easy task. I have tried many different concealers from both sides of the D-spectrum (department store and drugstore.) Many cover well, but can be cakey and tend to settle into those little lines, making them stand out.  I found this to be true with my latest purchase from Clarins (Instant Concealer).  Though creamy and covers well, after a while, it just collects into those fine lines. For years I have used MAC Select Moisture Cover, which I find to be great.  It goes on smoothly and looks natural, but when it comes to knocking out those dark circles, it's ability to do so is just about average, maybe a little better, but not out of this world.   I find the same true with Almay's Smart Shade concealer, it goes on smooth and doesn't crease, but its coverage is just okay, if not minimal. Since getting rid of my dark circles seemed to be problematic, I decided to try Benefit's Boing, which touts itself as industrial strength.  I found it was way too cakey and dry, not good for middle age skin that is depleting in moisture.  So off I went to look for something new, and something that wouldn't break the bank, in case it didn't work out.  I headed to the drugstore.  The cosmetics associate suggested Maybelline's Age Rewind saying that it's very popular.  Although the actual concealer comes in a variety of shades, she recommended the Neutralizer shade which is meant to be worn under concealer for extremely dark circles. (I guess I must have looked really haggard - another sign that I needed a new product for under my eyes.)  Honestly, it had been years since I had used any product from Maybelline, the last one being lipstick. I was skeptical, but regardless, I went for it.   I didn't think that anything would actually rewind any years off my face, let alone stay out of my life lines, but I was wrong.  My eyes looked brighter and refreshed.  The dark circles were gone.  My lines were still there, but there was no product sticking to them like long lost friends, thus keeping their existence somewhat under wraps.  I couldn't believe it, my face looked more alive and awake.  It is now the only product I will use under my eyes and it works so well, I find I usually don't need to wear any additional concealer with it.
