Winter White Skin

Winter seems endless.  Grey skies. Sub zero temps.  Snow.  Depending on where you live, and what animal tested the waters on February 2nd, you may or may not be in store for another six weeks of winter.  From the looks of things, spring is a ways away, and although the days are getting longer, there still doesn't seem to be enough sun to bring any life into our pallid skin.  Let's face it, if we weren't wearing clothes, we would be one with the snow.  Unless, you are lucky enough to head for the tropics, we will have to get that flush of colour the old fashioned way - makeup.  

Like many women, I am a huge fan of NARS Orgasm blush.  It truly suits most skin types and gives you a natural, peachy glow.  As winter skin, tends to be drier, I find cream blushes work much better.  Although NARS makes their blush in a cream stick, I found their Orgasm colour to have too many gold flecks in the stick form for my taste.  Looking into other options, I found NYX makes a comparable colour, Orchid.   Their stick blush  is easy to apply, has a marvelous creamy texture, doesn't streak and is fairly long lasting.  In fact, I liked the texture and ease of these blush sticks so much, that I also bought one in a rosy/mauve colour called Water Lily to wear when my makeup gravitates towards cool tones. They are normally $6, but are on sale for $3 at www.nyxcosmetics.com. Their small size makes them great to use when travelling, or to throw in your purse for when your cheeks need a quick boost.

Don't fear the bright colour, it will make your skin come alive until the summer sun can once again do it for you.   Below is a comparison of NYX's Orchid and NARS Orgasm - pretty close match don't you think?  I also included NYX's Water Lily colour, so you can get an idea of its hue.  Keep in mind, the samples haven't been blended in as they would be when you apply them.  Therefore,  you can expect a lighter flush of colour and softer look, depending on how much you layer on.
