White Denim - A Big Deal for Spring
Easter egg hunts aren't the only quests to set out upon this time of year. With the start of spring break come a variety of sales, and with spring's seasonal pieces already in stores, I decided to embark on my own fashion forage. On my list of things to search for was a white denim jacket. I had been wanting one since last summer, but never got around to finding it before the season, and all it's wares had been replaced by fall sweaters and heavier coats. I decided this year I would be proactive and find this wardrobe staple before it was too late. On my list of stores to hit were the Gap, Old Navy, Levi's, H&M and Saks Off Fifth.
A white denim jacket is a basic item and everyone should have one in their closet. It is highly versatile, goes with everything, but it is pretty seasonal, so I didn't want to invest too much into it. I had most faith in Old Navy, as their website carries all types of denim jackets, including white, at more than reasonable prices, so it was my first stop. I found the jackets, and sitting hidden in the rack, was one with a tag that read "50% Off Online Exclusive Final Sale." It was a size larger than what I usually take, but couldn't resist the 50% off, so I gave it a try. To my surprise, it actually fit better than my usual size M, whose sleeves were a bit too short for my liking. The jacket was listed as a TALL, so it was also a bit longer than a regular sized jacket, but not by much. I liked the longer look, and I figured if I wanted it shorter, all I had to do is cut off the bottom hem, and give it a trendy frayed look. I had no actual idea what the price was as there was none listed on the tag. I was told that the discount was on the original price of $44.94, but the online item was now discounted at 90% off, not 50%. The white denim jacket I had waited a year to buy was now going to cost me $4.49. That's less than a tall Latte at Starbucks!
Though my hunt ended as quickly as it started, I certainly couldn't complain. I had truly found a hidden treasure and it was definitely worth the wait! I think this counts for Deal of the Year, not Deal of the Week, but then again who knows what tomorrow will bring. The year is still young...
Happy Hunting!
